This is a lovely rhyming story about three burrowing owls on their first excursion away from home. I read it to my four year old daughter and she absolutely loved the charming story and wonderful illustrations. There's a great lesson about taking good care of oneself and being honest when one messes up.
My daughter particularly loved the part when the pelican saved Pistachio and helped him. Most of this authors other books are for slightly older children and, although my daughter enjoys them, I noticed she was more engaged with this one, which is more appropriate for her age. Both of my children love this author's other books and we read them quite often, so I am sure this one is going to become another staple for bedtime.
