I really enjoyed this epic young adult fantasy adventure about a princess who longs to be reunited with her mother and brother who live across the known world after an epic betrayal. There are fantastic elements reminiscent of the feud between Montagues and Capulets, moments that made me think of Gulliver's Travels and even dragon riders. There are some fantastic lessons woven into the story, which make this read even more enjoyable, especially since they are presented in a gentle way. There were times when the style was a little dry for me and I found it slowed my reading pace because I was kept at arm's length from the action in the story, however it really is a good book and definitely one I'll be recommending for lovers of YA fantasy and epic fantasy. I am definitely looking forward to diving into Forged, the next book in this series.
