The Warrior Prince of Berush by Amber Gabriel

Updated: Apr 26

Another wonderful read by Amber Gabriel. I'm loving this series with it's in-depth look at relationships and what makes them wholesome.

I also appreciate how the author engages with war PTS in her MC, Darius. His psychological healing in this story is a powerful message about what's possible despite the horrors of war. When one is trapped in the cycle caused by post-traumatic stress, one might feel like it's impossible to get out of it and believe that it will be eternal, but this does not have to be the outcome. Gabriel engages with one alternative to the healing process in a beautiful way, and it added so much to the romance!

The alternative reality is very interestingly done. I like how this place could be earth, but isn't and that these stories could be historical fiction, but aren't. It's a lovely setting to just relax into and enjoy because you don't have to worry about historical accuracy, while everything is recognizable enough to work without effort.

Although there were a few instances of head hopping, a slight overreliance on telling, and some moments where the phrasing threw me out of the story, overall this is an enjoyable read and I definitely had fun with it.

Note: This is the sequel to A Crack in the Rock. Check out the review here.
