This series is seriously addictive. I absolutely loved this two-part retelling of Beauty and the Beast, and appreciated all the unexpected twists and turns. The author does a stellar job with the relationship between Bonnie and Leander, as well as with their foils in Jess and Clancy, and Bonnie’s own parents’ story. I adored the unexpected twist there, especially since Tempest hinted enough in “Beast of Rosemead” for me to unravel part of the mystery, but not all of it. So many surprises. So many secrets. And so many unexpected moments.
I also loved how this book blends the fairytale world of Arbore with the folklore if aspects in Faerie. Lots of wonderful explorations of the fae and their tricksy magic, not to mention all the monsters. This world is absolutely fascinating and I’m not ready to give it up. Thankfully, there are loads more stories set in it. Can’t wait to get to the next one.
