This epic retelling of the classic Sleeping Beauty fairytale is brilliantly done. I absolutely adored the twist and how Fairuza and her “prince” get a chance to get to know each other. The twist on who the prince is was unexpected with both stages of the reveal. I totally didn’t see that coming. The message about nobility having absolutely nothing to do with what family we’re born into, and everything to do with our choices is a beautiful one and added a layer to this story that really resonated for me. Add to that the fact I truly believed in every possible way that Fairuza might fail and I couldn’t see a way for her to get out of her awful situation, so the ending twist came as a total surprise too.
Well written. Unpredictable. And with a fab cast of characters I really cared about. I was totally invested in this one.
