What an entertaining read! I loved every moment of this charming story. It's got the perfect sassy tone of Bridgerton along with the more deeply rooted historical feel of Jane Austen's works while also adding the fabulous magical extra of dragons. The combination was brilliant.
I love the story. The twists and turns kept me at the edge of my seat and I'm absolutely relieved at how the author managed to unravel everything for a perfectly satisfying ending despite things getting pretty hairy towards the end of the novel. I honestly didn't know how it would be possible to "fix" any of it, but everything works out in the end. I loved how the author showed that message beautifully along with the personal realisation that my own life isn't anywhere near as bad as what poor Elinor was going through.
She really had a tough time of it but made the best of every bad situation and is definitely a very Austinesque female MC. She's got all the panache and sensibility, just as the title suggests. I loved the dragon and how Elinor managed to give him the comfort and support he needed to come into his own. There's also the fact that he has a lovely little secret that helps to cause lots of disasters. There's also the small fact that terrified dragons poop everywhere, which added to some more disasters along the way. There were several moments where the situational humour made me laugh out loud and got me funny glances from my family. I'll definitely be recommending this one to all lovers of Regency romances, rom-coms, and books with dragons. The combination of it all makes this novel unique for each of the subgenres and hence far more entertaining.
Now... for that next book in series. Can't wait!
